Micro Windmills

Horizontal axis wind turbine, also known as micro windmills, have recently became known to the public. These tiny windmills are only about 2mm tall, meaning it can fit almost anywhere you want, but can generate enough power to send a text message. The creators, Jung-Chih Chiao and Smitha Roa, created this tiny device while thinking of a way to power night lights or sensors without buying a giant turbine. While they succeeded in making the prototype they are also trying to make them cost friendly. The size of the micro windmill helps with costs when producing them. The tiny windmills are made from nickel alloy, making them quite durable. Perhaps sometime in the future you could have one of these in your home helping you use less electricity.
